I’ve been teaching Latin for more than fifteen years. I have a master’s degree in Latin from Rutgers University in New Jersey, and I’m the author of two Latin textbooks for Yale University Press. I’ve taught all levels of Latin over the years, both in blue ribbon high schools in New Jersey as well as to private students. I’ve had much success as a teacher and have had students place directly into upper level Latin courses at prestigious universities. Recently a former student of mine was accepted into the PhD program in classics at Harvard University. Most importantly, however, all of my students enjoy their lessons, and come away with meaningful contact with Latin literature.
I am well versed in the full range of Latin pedagogy, from modern reading methods, to the traditional grammar translation approach. I am also familiar with nearly every Latin textbook currently in use. I can tailor a lesson to any circumstance, whether it is a student who needs extra help in a class, or an adult who wants to learn Latin for pleasure. I have a fairly keen understanding of Latin grammar, and can help you see that Latin is really not as difficult as it may seem at first blush!
