Hello! My name is Christine Tickner, and I´m from England. I am CELTA qualified and I teach English as a Second Language (ESL). I very much enjoy working with students from many different countries and have been teaching ESL for 14 years now.
I grew up in England, and moved to Spain 6 years ago, where I am currently working at an International School. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French Studies from the University of Lancaster in the United Kingdom, as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Education.
I love both teaching and learning languages, as they open up so many opportunities to meet and communicate with people from different countries and cultures. I am very experienced in teaching English to students of all ages and at all levels. I love the diversity and relish the challenge of helping each student with their own particular needs and goals.
For me, learning is essential to self-expression and communication, and I strongly believe that it should be fun as well as useful to the students in their everyday lives. Most people learn best when they are relaxed and feel able to develop confidence in their own abilities. Consequently, a trusting and respectful relationship between teacher and student is vital.
I fully understand the problems inherent in learning a new language as I have been learning Spanish for 6 years now and have also gone through the stages of learning other languages. I know how important it is to give clear explanations to the student, appropriate to their level, regarding unfamiliar vocabulary and grammar points. I am a calm and patient tutor, and I genuinely want to help my students to achieve their language learning goals – whether they be related to reading, writing, speaking or listening.
I am really looking forward to meeting you in the classroom and hope that we can work together to share our love of the English language. See you soon!
