Hello! I'm a qualified English teacher from Australia with about six years of teaching experience. I enjoy having conversations with students from different cultures or walks of life and asking them about their experiences and ideas. I offer conversation classes, listening classes, reading classes, grammar classes, pronunciation classes and essay correction. I also speak Spanish fluently and have an intermediate level of Japanese.
The atmosphere of my lessons is relaxed, comfortable, and professional. You will do at least 70% of the talking. You’ll gain confidence from our lessons, and this will encourage you to practice your English in public without fear. Most lessons will include the following components: 1. “Small talk:” A social conversation about, for example, your recent weekend activities. 2. Review of our previous lesson. 3. Accent reduction and pronunciation practice: Reading aloud from a short text. 4. Main activity: We'll use a text, video, or audio sample as the vehicle to learn the new and reinforce the old. 5. Closing: Review today's lesson and plan for next lesson. During the trial lesson, we’ll find out a little about each other. We’ll talk about your needs and interests in any special vocabulary, reading and writing skills, and speaking and listening proficiency. I will ask you to estimate your level of proficiency now, and what level you want to achieve in the next three months. My areas of specialty: Vocabulary enrichment; business/professional English; writing skills; effective meetings, presentations, and interviews; and taking an advanced student to the next level. I hope I’ve shared enough information to help you decide if we might be a good match. If you have any questions before you make your decision, please send me a message.
I am a fully qualified and certified teacher in sunny South Africa. I have a four year Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Stellenbosch where I specialized in the Foundation Phase. In the last six years I have worked with students from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. I believe that learning is an intricate part of our daily lives and we as humans learn best when we are having fun. I therefore incorporate elements of music, movement and dramatization into my lessons whenever possible. I base my lessons on a text and from there we explore the different elements of language. I tailor make my lessons with each individual student's needs in mind. My lessons are not only about the linguistic skills of your choice, they are about communication and your holistic English experience. My passion is in people, learning about new languages and cultures, as well as being a life-long learner. Words hold power and I am excited to share them with you. I look forward to meeting you in the classroom.
