The atmosphere of my lessons is relaxed, comfortable, and professional. You will do at least 70% of the talking. You’ll gain confidence from our lessons, and this will encourage you to practice your English in public without fear. Most lessons will include the following components: 1. “Small talk:” A social conversation about, for example, your recent weekend activities. 2. Review of our previous lesson, if any. 3. Pronunciation exercise: Reading aloud from a short text. 4. Main activity: We'll use a text, video, or audio sample as the vehicle to learn the new and reinforce the old. 5. Closing: Review today's lesson and plan for next lesson. At our first lesson, we’ll find out a little about each other. We’ll talk about your needs and interests in any special vocabulary, reading and writing skills, and speaking and listening proficiency. I will ask you to estimate your level of proficiency now, and what level you want to achieve in the next three months. Areas of specialty: Vocabulary enrichment, business/professional English, writing skills, effective meetings and presentations, taking an advanced student to the next level. I hope I’ve shared enough information to help you decide if we might be a good match. If you have any questions before you make your decision, please send me a message.

I know that you sometimes feel tongue-tied when you try and speak in English, the words dry up and your brain seems to have turned to mush, even though you have hours of classroom experience and know lots of English vocabulary and grammar rules! I can speak fluent French, but I still remember that feeling. Our receptive skills are always much stronger than our productive skills in language acquisition. I can help you use your current English language skills to be able to communicate with ease and coherence and will teach you how to build on them and improve your confidence. You will really sense that success; you will stop worrying about grammar and producing sophisticated sentences and instead, will learn to love your mistakes! I like this quote from Richard Branson: ‘You don't learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing, and by falling over.’ This brings an image of a toddler to mind, doesn’t it? That brings me to another point – children learn language by ‘doing’, experimenting and experiencing the rich rewards of getting their message across. We can all get a message over successfully when we need to communicate. Your lessons with me will be about real communication – on topics of genuine interest to you. Both your self-confidence and your English skills will flourish! You need a minimum of 5.5 in IELTS to get to a university in England – work towards a band 6 or 7 with me; you will get to that magical point where you can speak at length ‘without noticeable effort or loss of coherence’….let’s get going! I offer academic and general writing tuition, speaking practice, reading (at speed) and active listening...the whole package to help you move up through the IELTS bands. I'm also able to offer lessons at lower levels, pure conversation or Business English. Book with me today and become confident in English!

My name is Nico and I'm American. Please see my resume for the specific details of my qualifications and experience as a TEFL teacher. I have a lot of experience teaching children, teenagers, and adults, most of whom went on to take CEFR exams (whether British Institutes, IELTS, or Cambridge). Because of this experience, and also the experience of running my own school, I have a good sense of how fast students can develop their language skills and how to keep moving forward in the process of language learning. For me, it is essential that students are well-rounded, which means they need to work on the various parts of a language – reading, listening, speaking, pronunciation, writing, and grammar. Unfortunately, a lot of students focus on one or two of these areas at school, leaving gaps in their education. It’s important to have lessons completely in English, but it does help reduce a student’s stress level at times if they are completely stuck and can revert back to their original language. In these cases, I speak Italian, if it’s of any additional help. Furthermore, knowing the common Italian mistakes often helps with Spanish and French students because at times the vocabulary and grammatical structures are similar. *Please note that I do not do two-hour lessons.

Hey there!! My name is Sandra and I’m from the state of Oregon in the United States. I studied to be an English teacher and I have my TKT certificate from the University of Cambridge. I have about five years of experience teaching English to students of all ages and all levels. I actually taught English in many private schools in Mexico and I just loved it! My lessons are tailored to your needs and I focus on all aspects of the language such as speaking it, listening and reading comprehension. Most importantly I like making my lessons fun using real life contexts, cultural aspects, visual aids and games. Hope to see you soon!

For the last 20 years I have been involved with international students at high school and university levels. My work has given me a lot of experience in communicating with students and families whose first language is not English. My lessons will always be based on the student's present level and interest. I like to use written examples to help students develop skills in speaking and listening. My personal interests are sports, history, politics, travel, psychology, sociology, academic planning, human relations and personal development.
